To convert Decimal Degrees (DD) from Google Maps to Degrees and Minutes (DMS) for astrology software, follow these three steps using your Vizag coordinates (17.6868, 83.2185) as an example:

1. The Degrees

The whole number before the decimal point stays exactly the same.

• Latitude: 17.6868 → 17°
• Longitude: 83.2185 → 83°

2. The Minutes

Multiply the decimal portion (everything after the dot) by 60.

• Latitude: Take .6868 and multiply by 60 (0.6868 × 60) = 41.20
  • Your minutes are 41'.
• Longitude: Take .2185 and multiply by 60 (0.2185 × 60) = 13.11
  • Your minutes are 13'.

3. The Seconds (Optional)

If your software asks for seconds, take the new decimal from the minutes result and multiply by 60 again.

• Latitude Seconds: .20 × 60 = 12"
• Longitude Seconds: .11 × 60 = 6.6" (Round to 7")
